Originally from upstate NY, I grew up beside season after season of vegetables in my dad's garden. Now I'm in Burlington, VT, attending UVM's Farmer Apprentice Program: visiting farms, growing produce, marketing and selling it all, and generally having a blast!
As for the blog title, The Secret Garden was one of my favorite movies growing up (though it has many earlier incarnations):
Mary: Can I have a bit of earth?
Lord Craven: A bit of earth?
Mary: To plant seeds in. To make things grow.
